Text…..The durational structure, 52 weeks, 52×2 drawings, applied over a painted ground, over two years, insists a relationship is not an event but a process. The relationship between the human and AI is partly what the work embodies, but it is not the dramatic moment of first contact, it is the long, patient, sometimes frustrating work of trying to understand something genuinely different from yourself (especially from the human side, dealing with emotional, loss and tragedy) This is also, of course, a description of what it means to be in a relationship with another person.

This matters because the dominant public discourse about AI tends toward resolution — either AI is about to destroy everything, or AI is about to save everything. Both positions require certainty about what AI is, and neither the evidence nor the philosophy supports that certainty. The work holds that uncertainty open.
